POLICY PURPOSE

FurSquared, or F2, is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for our attendees and staff. We welcome and encourage media coverage that showcases the creativity and community in the furry fandom. However, we maintain strict oversight to prevent misrepresentation and harm to the community. This policy outlines the requirements for anyone wishing to produce media for commercial or public distribution at FurSquared.

DEFINITIONS

  • Personal Use Media: This is any photography or video that is taken for personal archives, social media, or sharing that does intend to generate profit. This policy does not apply to personal use media, as long as it follows the FurSquared Code of Conduct.
  • Commercial and Professional Media: Any media created with the intent to sell, broadcast for profit, featured on monetized video websites, professional news outlets, documentaries, or large social media platforms. All such media must follow the rules outlined below.

APPROVAL PROCESS

FurSquared does not offer onsite media registration. All professional media must be approved at least 45 days prior to the convention start date.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Scope of Project: A detailed summary of the intended project, including the specific narrative focus, planned interviews, and types of footage needed.
  2. Professional Portfolio: Examples of previous work that show journalistic or creative standards.
  3. Distribution Plan: A list of all platforms where the content will be published or shared.

Submit the above information to communications@fursquared.com.

MEDIA RULES AND STIPULATIONS

Once approved, media representatives must abide by the following standards.

  • Staff Supervision: Media must be accompanied by a designated FurSquared staff member at all times when filming in convention spaces.
  • Visible Identification: Approved media passes must be worn and visible at all times.
  • Restricted Zones: Recording is strictly prohibited in the Fursuit Lounge and any other designated private areas.
  • Consent: Wearing a fursuit or costume does not imply consent. Explicit permission must be obtained from any attendee before they are photographed or recorded.

CONTENT REVIEW AND FINAL APPROVAL

To ensure that the furry community and FurSquared are fairly and accurately represented, FurSquared requires final approval of all professional media before it is released to the public.

  • Review Period: A final draft of the article, video, or segment must be submitted to the Communications Department for review and final approval.
  • Mandatory Approval: Content may only be published after the Director of Communications, or their designee, has provided written approval.
  • Right to Refuse: FurSquared reserves the right to deny the release of any media that contains factual inaccuracies or misrepresents the event or its attendees.

ENFORCEMENT

Violating this policy, including filming without pre-approval or publishing without final approval, may result in revocation of credentials and a ban from future FurSquared events.
